Lunch at Al Azhar

Vords of Visdom

I had to do pick up shoot w/ the sweet lil’ baby today, the shoot went well and afterwards Fay, Sam and I went for some really late lunch at Al Azhar, opposite Beauty World at Upper Bukit Timah.

I’ve tried their prata before and it’s GEREKKK!!! So I wanted to try something else, I ordered their Tosai Chikin’ Masala – basically it’s made of dough with potatoes and chickin masala filling and they serve it with some indian yoghurt and sauces… REALLY GOOD! but I couldn’t finish all the potatoes… a lil’ bit too much for me.

Then we also shared Indian Rojak, it’s a mix of some fried dough, potatoes, bean curd, prawn, and some other things which I can’t identified and molded into circular shapes and served with super tasty peanut sauce… HEART IT!!!  Sam, as usual cannot only order one food, he ordered fried rice ikan bilis and Roti John with Mutton and Cheese… and he finished most of the rojak… hahaha… That dude sure can eat!!! I’m in a party mood today, even though it’s only Thursday I’m meeting up with some friends for drinks and some dancing! I know I’m gonna die tom at the office… but Fawk care… I deserve it! Been workin my arse off the whole week, I deserve some down time:)

Makan + Karaokean

Vords of Visdom

It’s sunday and it’s time for Indo’s to meet up and spend some quality time 2geDerrr. Oggy, Keti and I met up for lunch first before going Karaoke at Party World Orchard. Ayam Penyet just opened another new outlet at Lucky Plaza level 1-45. I think it’s by the same management but somehow the catfish is BIGGER than the one upstairs (4th floor). We had LOTS of food: Gado-gado (this one is good, and I feel is better than Ojolali), catfish, Sayur Asam, kerupuk and some Es Campur for dessert. The catfish is really good, crispehhh on the outside and juicy in the inside. Ya got to try it!

BUT the Es Campur is a total mess, they try to “mash up” everything inside, i know it’s call “es campur” which literally means “mixed ice” but come on! how can you mix lychee and jackfruit among other things like grass jelly, coconut meat, condensed milk and Rose Syrup! The taste is just so fawkin WRONG!

Afterwards we went to Party World for some good old Karaoke… For all the Indo peeps in Singapore, Party World has one of the most extensive selection of Indo songs. They even have: “SMS”, “Lelaki Buaya Darat” and some old songs by Farid Hardja and even that song Dr Cinta… remember the video clip has Doyok playing as a boxer and being treated by a “love doctor” hahaha… Fawkin hilarious! Jemil and Gani joined us for karaoke… Jemil is a great Dangdut singer y’all! She can do Ngebor, Ngecor and other dangdut dance that you can think of:) Thanks mil for comin’ with us.

The only downside was when the bill came… DANG PARTY WORLD is EXPENSIVE! we only ordered one more round of drinks (only had one beer and the rest are non alcoholic drinks) and it was 2-6 in the afternoon!!! We had to pay $110 for room usage for 4 hours and compulsary items like wet towel (why do people need wet towel when they go karaoke anyway???????? and it’s $1 each, we HAD to buy 5!!!) fruits and stupid snacks which cost around 15 bucks; that’s additional 20 bucks y’all! Well… I guess, you have to pay if you wanna have fun:) such a Whorish formula:)

A day with a really cool family!

Vords of Visdom

Ok, today is Saturday and I have to work:( But luckily I am working with a solid crew and I feature a really AWESOME Family! We’re featuring them for one of our show! Gosh they’re really a fun loving family… I can really tell that the husband really loves his wife… and the kids are so well behaved! Kudos to the parents! And the lil’ baby is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! She has attitude K and when she smiles, she just light up and brighten up your day!!!

For the lovely family… thank you. You’ve given me faith in family live in the modern age:) My parents are my role model… they’ve been together for 30 years!!! And now, I have another family to look up to that I can connect to what I feel and what I see today… To be honest, I don’t feel like gettin married… maybe I haven’t found the “ONE” yet (NEO WHERE ARE YA MY LOVE!!!) Har har har… Oh well, we’ll just have to wait and see won’t we? No point of wondering, just have to live and learn:)

After work, I met up with Jefissa and Junice and Vincent for dinner. We met up and Newton circus… dang it’s a bloody tourist trap. The Food SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSS and EXPENSIVEEEEEEEEEE. I ordered fried rice, which was WAY TOO SALTY! Just becos salt is cheap doesn’t mean y’all pour the whole thing there right! And we also had sambal stingray… which was just passable to eat, fried oyster omelette… TOO MUCH OIL, and Kailan in oyster sauce… this one is just OK. Don’t go there if you want some quality food, go there if you just wanna hang out and drink juices or “cheap” beer. But it was nice to see my friends again. I need my weekly dose of Jefissa =)

We just need to distress!!!

Vords of Visdom

I finally watched “Step Up”!!! Been wanting to watch it for weeks with Mel, but we couldn’t find the right time… and I was stressed out today, so I called up my hos and asked them out to watch Step Up… Since ‘ey all are fed up with work too and in desperate need for some entertainment, ‘ey all said yes =)

I heart the movie cos there’s a lot of dancing and good lookin peeps in it… It has Mario, I heart his song “Let me Love You”, and did I mention it has lots of hip hop dancin too:) Channing Tatum can break man… he is HAWT, but he only has one expression on his face… the “I’m too cool to be here” look that once made Vanilla Ice famous:) Hey you’ll never know, maybe they’ll cast him as Vanilla Ice in the remake of “As Cool As Ice“… do you remember that movie? That movie was funny in an ironic way! I bet Naomi Campbell regretted appearing in that movie! But I must admit, I once shaved my inner hair and had lines like Mr Ice’s hair do and could do the Running Man very well!!! Hahaha that was the 90s man… anything goes:)

It’s always fun to hang out with my hos! We took some silly pics together at Lido. Ciling took a pic of me with the Step Up poster… took her a few times to get it right… hahaha… I created quite a scene for a moment there:)

Go and watch Step Up for the fun of it! Enjoy Channing Tatum’s hot bods and his Vanilla Ice look!

OK… I have a confession… I hate hairy body, so I like to keep every part of my body hairless… except my head of coz:) Hence BRAZILIAN wax has become a habit of mine;) Don’t get me wrong, I get nervous everytime I go for my session, but I go to a very good and private place call STRIP with a very great waxer, Amy. I always go to its Holland V branch cos Amy’s stationed there. She’s da best, if you ever want to try Brazilian Wax, I totally recommend you to go and do it with her! But I heard she’s moving to The Cathay’s branch, so I’m going there next month!

When people say you’ll get used to the pain, they are so fawking lying! Hahaha… The pain won’t go away when you’re lying there butt nakid and your palms are sweaty and you feel the wax applied on your: V for Vagina! HARHARHAR… corny… I know, but I just had to do it! You won’t get numb, but you’ll get used to the pain. It won’t be painless, but you’re not surprised factor is gone:) I have to bring my lil’ towel everytime, to prevent me from screaming and make Strip customers run away;) After the first pull, you kinda know what you’re gettin’ yourself into! Besides it’s so fast, around 20 minutes and after it’s all done… YOU FEEL SO FAWKIN LIBERATED… like a newborn baby:d So you better try it at least once in your life right??? =)

After my session, I went to town to do my recce. It was a hawt day, but not as hawt as saturday! I met up with Gani for lunch there, since she’s going to church in town. I wanted to try the last Indo resto’ that I haven’t tried yet, Resto Surabaya. Mel said the fried fish is great, but Gani wanted to have the barbecue fish. So we ordered that and Kangkong, and I also wanted to try their Rawon (beef stew). We ordered their fresh squeezed orange juice for our drinks.

Resto Surabaya is owned by the same guy who owns Ayam Penyet Ria chain at Joo chiat and Lucky Plaza (I found out that besides the one on 4th floor, Ayam Penyet opens a new branch on the first floor, somewhere in the corner of Lucky Plaza) and Es Teler 77 at Far East Plaza. Unfortunately, the food that we ordered at Resto Surabaya weren’t as good as the two restos!!!

The Rawon was OK, but the soup can be a lil’ bit thicker but the beef was good (the one at Ayam Penyet, the soup was WAYYY too thick!!!) . THE GRILLED FISH SUCKSSSSSSSS!!! It’s not fresh at all, and it looks like it was fried and given the barbecue sauce on top of it. The taste was OK but just passable to eat and not satisfying! Gani went to eat at Ayam Bakar Ojolali and tried their grilled fish and she said it was good! And believe me it’s hard to satisfy Gani’s taste in food:) The Kangkong is even worse! It tasted weird, not recommended at all!!! The freshly squeezed orang juice is also tasteless! Much more ice than the orange juice itself! Blahhhhhhh… I was disappointed y’all, I thought it;s going to be great. I didn’t want to try their fried fish, cos as y’all know, anything that is fried is good:d So the tricky part is to make good grilled fish! The person who sat next to me had grilled chickin’ it looks like it’s grilled; that’s why Gani and I was wondering how come our fish doesn’t even look like it was grilled, no burnt mark existing on our fish, it just looks pale:(

And the service wasn’t that great either, I know Sundays at Lunch are their busiest day, butttttt it doesn;t mean you give bad service, right! I don’t see them doing the extra mile to serve their customers. The guy who showed us to our table was the owner of Resto Surabaya. He was quick to give us a table, i applaud that, but then he practically threw our cutlery on to our table. Gani and I looked at each other and smile… DANG that was strike one… but they made up for it with the Rawon, but then the grilled fish and kangkong came and that was strike two and three:) AND IT’S OUT!!!

Verdict: I’m sorry to say but I wouldn’t go back again. I’ll stick to Ayam Penyet and Ayam Bakar Ojolali!!!

You got to do what you got to do!

Vords of Visdom

DANG! I got to work this weekend! BOOOO, but I had to do it, sigh… I went for a shoot today with Vic, Fay and Sam at Bishan Park. Call tim 7.45 AM!!! hahaha; hence, I didn’t stay up too late last night, I was home by 1 am from [V]’s party. Quite proud of myself for having the disciplin:) plus I’ve asked Vic to wake me up! Thanks Vic!!!

The shoot went well and it was a bloody hot day man! Sweating like crazy! After the shoot we went for breakfast at Ang Mo Kio Central. I had tomato-carrot juice and Yong Tau Foo. the YTF was FAWKIN GREAT!!! Definitely one of the best one I’ve tasted so far! And we shared fish otak too, the taste is not bad, but it was cold so I didn’t heart it so much:) For those of you who have never tasted Singapore’s Otak yet, you’re missing one of the most exotic food in the world! It is spicy fish cake grilled in a banana leaf wrapping! It’s YUMMEH!!! A Must try!

Fay and Sam just joined our company and I never really had time to go for lunch with them, so this was the first time I went to eat with them, and DANG, sam sure loves to eat; check out what he had at 10.45 am=) You go Boy!!!

Am super duper tired y’all, going to take a nap and just relax at home today… ta-ta now…

[V] is for Channel V

Vords of Visdom

I went to Channel V’s party at Zouk on Friday. It was awfully crowded and lots of people had to queue for a LONG time, I think the organizer wasn’t really organize. Even the VIPs have to queue!!!

BUT not me:) Thanks to my girl, Sheryl, we managed to go to priority queue and swing in and only had to wait around 10 minutes to go in. Sheryl Girlfriend, Ya Da Bomb! So I went with smurffette, the village whore formerly known as Emma:d, Sheryl and Terrence.

Most of my friends from the other music channel showed up to check out the event too. Hehehe, they are such party crashers! I think the [V] peeps know they are there, huhuhu, and they really tried to pull out a good show, but I wasn’t overly impressed, The “stars” line up are relatively unknown, the like of Hady Mirza, Vanessa from Parking lot pimps and Ryan Stars, the will always be known as the guy who didn’t win Rockstar Supernova. Thank god they invited Rivermaya to perform. THEY RAWK! They sang their hit single “You’ll Be Save Here”… Awesome! I got the chance to meet up with them at the VIP area, cool dudes. I saw Hardy Mirza as well, Fresh Blood, still don’t know how to act at parties, but so far, I think he’s better than Taufik, cos he didn’t pull the “I’m God’s give to music” FACE:d. I met Paul Twohill too, he is trully a misfit, and I praise him for keeping it real and… for keep wearing eyeliner for his ‘punk’ look. SHERYL took some pictures with some of artists we spotted:d

I met a colleague of my friends from ‘the other channel’, Carrie, she’s hilarious! Harro Kerri, nice to meet ya! And she sure loves her channel=)

Met my “ho for eternity and beyond”, Sze Yong and my friend Jason there too. We hung out for a while, unfortu’ SY had to cover the party so he had to hop around the place and find more interesting people than us… HARROOO GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! HAHAHA

Thanks to mich and Sharynn for staying back at Phuture with me cos I really needed the dancing and to release that night, I’ve been so stressed out at work and dancing really helps me distress:) Heart ya BEE-YATCH!
